We’re so excited to share an 8-part series we produced on how lobstermen (and women) can prevent marine debris while they’re out on the water. With funding from the public-private partnership Fishing For Energy, we worked with the Massachusetts Division of Marine Fisheries, the Massachusetts Lobstermen’s Association, and Woods Hole Sea Grant for the better part of a year to show that it’s easy and in fishermen’s best interest to follow regulations that ensure the sustainability of the harvest.

Upbeat banter between Dave Casoni (a lobsterman and retired teacher) and Jeffrey Brodeur as a novice recreational fisherman sets the tone for the series. We also have guest appearances from Lt. Matt Bass of the Massachusetts Environmental Police, Donny Spring from Sandwich Ship Supply, and Story Reed as your friendly DMF permit vendor.

Educational yet fun to watch, the series demonstrates how recreational lobster gear can become a hazard to marine life and other boaters, while providing handy tips on how to get a permit, rig your gear, and fish for lobsters effectively.
