40 Under 40 Award

Here on Cape Cod, we like to joke that no matter how old you are, you’re considered young. “Olde Cape Cod” takes on a new meaning in a place where the average age is 60+. But despite feeling “forever young”, it’s not always considered a good thing in business. So that’s why it was especially exciting for our producer Elise Hugus (age 33) to receive the 40 Under 40 Award from Cape & Plymouth Business, a magazine covering Barnstable and Plymouth counties. Here’s how they describe the award:

Now in its eighth year, Cape & Plymouth Business’ 40 under 40 Awards program continues to recognize the tremendous contributions of young professionals in our region. This program honors distinguished businesspeople under the age of 40 who have made a mark in our region at an extraordinarily young age. These top young business leaders excel in their industry and show dynamic leadership characteristics. The winners have started companies, found success at a young age at established businesses, and made nonprofits stronger.

Last week, Elise joined fellow young entrepreneurs— including shop owners, non-profit leaders, and professionals— in celebrating small, local (and youthful) business. In her remarks to the packed ballroom, she noted that it’s important for the community to support one another, not just by “buying local” but by telling each other’s stories. Hint, hint… we also do promotional videos!

It was a real pleasure to meet and reconnect with such a group of dedicated and innovative on Cape Cod. Many thanks to Cape & Plymouth Business for recognizing the next generation of business and advocacy leaders. Here’s to the next 40!
